Valentine’s Krispies

Rice Krispie Treats are delicious.  Now that the week of Valentine’s is upon us, it is easy to mix up the normal treat with a Valentine theme.  The cost is basically the same and these Valentine’s Krispies are a fun party treat to send to school parties, for the lunch boxes, or give to someone special as a Valentine.

Valentine’s Krispies

You’ll need the regular Krispie treat ingredients with a twist.  I bought pink marshmallows for the holiday and heart candy.  The cost of the seasonal marshmallows is the same as the regular bag.  I also used a few drops of red food coloring.

The ingredients

Make the treats as you normally would by melting butter and the marshmallows together.  I added 3-4 drops of red food coloring as the pot heated up.  Add the cereal and spread the mixture into a pan.  Allow the pan to cool

Add food coloring

Once the pan is cool, using a heart cookie cutter, cut heart shapes from the pan.  Depending on the size of your cookie cutter, you can make many hearts.  I used various sizes.

Hearts!

Once the heart shapes are cut, press the heart candies into the treats.  I put the stamp side down because the printing is not straight.  Valentine’s hearts used to have an imprinted saying on the candy.  Today, the candy has an ink stamp that isn’t straight and looks cheap…#firstworldproblems.  So I didn’t use the printed side.

Add the candies

And there you have your Valentine’s Krispies – so easy!

Happy Valentine’s Day
